Alibaba develops a competing ChatGPT

Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce giant, has revealed that it is developing its own version of ChatGPT in order to capture a piece of the burgeoning AI market.

A company spokesperson told CNBC that the company is developing ChatGPT-style technology, which is currently being tested internally.

Alibaba, which stated that they began working on generative AI in 2017, joins a growing number of tech firms such as Google and Baidu in responding to OpenAI and Microsoft’s ChatGPT AI chatbot.

“As a technology leader, we will continue to invest in transforming cutting-edge innovations into value-added applications for our customers and their end users via cloud services,” an Alibaba spokesperson told CNBC.

The firm also hinted that its chatbot could be integrated into its existing products.

Although the company hasn’t specified a launch date, this announcement is said to have increased pre-market trading in the US by 3%.

Numerous tech firms are enthusiastic about the potential opportunities that ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence chatbot produced by OpenAI, may unleash.

Earlier this week, Google unveiled its artificial intelligence chatbot technology, and the largest Chinese search engine, Baidu, revealed that it was developing its own chatbot, dubbed “Ernie bot” in English or “Wenxin Yiyan” in Chinese, both of which are translations of the same name.

Artificial intelligence called ChatGPT can be used to generate text or graphics. According to CNBC, it is driven by a big language model and uses vast amounts of data to comprehend and produce communication.

Users can ask ChatGPT questions on a wide variety of topics, write essays and even generate code.
