Prof. Wale Sulaiman, the Kwara South Social Democratic Party (SDP) senatorial candidate, has pledged to seek a $10 million investment in health and education for the district’s benefit if elected.
Sulaiman said this during his meeting with Kwara southerners based in Abuja on Friday, tagged: “Discussing the Kwara South Prosperity Agenda, and the Need for Quality Representation”.
The Professor of Neurosurgery and Spinal Surgery stated that he had completed all necessary calculations to determine the cost of insuring the people of Kwara South for health insurance and education.
“We need a contingent of Kwara South development fund, if we have 10 million dollars; we will have health and education insurance in Kwara South.
He stated that there was a need to fight for Kwara South’s political, social, and economic emancipation, and that this could only be accomplished by electing someone with vision like him.
“We need to create wealth, we need to create opportunities for the private sector, because there will be no room for development if there is no opportunity,” he said.
Sulaiman urged the people to put their trust in him as a man who had done his homework on what a Senator was capable of attracting to his constituency.
“When I was appointed as Special Adviser to Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrasaq on Health Matters, I was the only one who declared my asset, and when I was leaving, I was the only one who declared my asset.”
He stated that if elected as a senator to represent the people, he would be willing to declare his asset again.
Sulaiman’s candidacy was supported by the SDP National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Gabam, who called for support for the party’s senatorial candidate in Kwara South.
“We should support him so that he can come to the Senate. Please support him by lobbying and voting for him.
Gabam stated that any complaint about the candidate’s misbehavior after he has won the election should be reported to the party and the chairman, and appropriate action will be taken.
“If there is any complain after electing our candidate as the Senator, you can report him to our party. Prof. Wake Sulaiman’s selection is outstanding,”the SDP Chairman added.
Mr. Saheed Popoola, the SDP candidate for Offa, Oyun, and Ifelodun in the House of Representatives, who accompanied Sulaiman to the meeting, urged the people to vote in large numbers for the candidate.
He stated that it should be replicated for all of the party’s candidates, adding that this would bring true democratic dividends to the district.
“We’ve been in so many parties but haven’t gotten any democratic dividends because of interest; now we’re in the SDP to get real democratic dividends,” he explained.
He praised Sulaiman for his contributions to the district, noting that despite not being a senator or holding any elective position, he had performed over 300 eye operations for the people.
