Idris Elba, Mo Abudu Team Up to Empower African Talent with Education and Development Opportunities

Idris Elba, star of the TV show “Luther”, and media mogul Mo Abudu have formed a partnership between their production companies, Green Door Pictures and EbonyLife Media, respectively. The purpose of the partnership is to empower talent from Africa and the diaspora, and to foster inclusivity and diversity in the media industry.

Their collaboration seeks to provide opportunities for capacity building and large-scale global productions, as well as mentoring initiatives to support both lost and new generations of creatives. Elba and Abudu are inviting industry leaders, governments, the public sector, and multilateral agencies to join them in developing talent and building capacity across the continent of Africa.

The partnership aims to support and empower African talent through the expansion of industry education, with EbonyLife’s Creative Academy in Lagos, Nigeria, serving as a primary source of support for program graduates. In addition, Elba and Abudu plan to create a new slate of feature films and TV series that focus on authentic Afro-centric stories, targeting broadcasters, streamers, and the theatrical market.

Elba has always been passionate about using his platform to make a positive impact, and partnering with Abudu is a step towards creating a more inclusive and diverse media landscape. The partnership seeks to amplify the voices and experiences of Africa and its diaspora, while offering free, world-class industry education to the next generation of storytellers.

Abudu believes that Africa has the talent and stories to captivate the world, and that offering the best in industry education, mentorship, and production opportunities will allow graduates to become valuable contributors to the global media landscape. The partnership will explore the very best that African and Black stories have to offer global audiences, with the goal of making a positive impact and empowering talent across the continent.

Overall, Elba and Abudu’s partnership seeks to provide opportunities and support for African talent, while also fostering inclusivity and diversity in the media industry. Through their collaboration, they hope to amplify the voices and experiences of Africa and its diaspora, and to make a positive impact by empowering the next generation of creatives.
